Best Song Ever
The theme of 2022 is going to be dancing… I hope its dancing. I’m really feeling dancing right now. And this song captures feeling perfectly. Its about dancing to forget about your problems. Lil Yatchy specifically, “I forgot ‘bout my problems, I’m livin’ it up.”
This is for sure a super fun party song. There are references throughout about partying. We see this immediately in the first verse:“Spend late nights, tryna impress the wicked. Off two tabs, I'm gone. Mind too fried, couldn't remember the digits.”’And“Put her on the tab, turn the hood to a disco. Now she rockin', and I'm rockin', and we feelin' it out. All that energy I held in, I'm givin' it out.”
You combine this with Kevin Parker’s voice and music coming in and its just a perfect mix of hip hop and psychedelic rock. This is totally psych-hop. While the original and this song have strong references to party drugs, thats not why songs like this resonate. They resonate because they inspire you to let yourself go and just enjoy the moment. You don’t have to be rolling on molly in Ibiza to lose yourself to the music and just dance. You can be cleaning the kitchen or just getting off the Chicago L on your way into the office.
But, man, just let yourself go for a moment and feel the music. Thats what this song is about.
Live Music Awesomeness
Soccer Mommy.
I had a chance to check out Soccer Mommy at the Fillmore. It was awesomeness to be back at the Fillmore. I was super excited to see her new stuff. I was a big fan of Color Theory in 2020 and I’ve been wanting to hear those songs live for a while. Those songs were for sure excellent, but the highlight was a surprise play of Cool (had not been played in previous shows) and Still Clean. Check out some pics below.
Dehd
I saw them opening for Julien Baker. Such great energy on stage, with the guitarist bouncing all around. Super awesome band live. I can’t wait to see them again at a smaller venue. Desire was amazing. I strong suggest seeing them live if you can.
Julien Baker
Woah. This show was amazing. The reason I go to shows. The music that accompanied Julien’s dark and sometimes screaming vocals was perfect. The whole show was a highlight, but Appointments and Turn Out the Lights were for sure standouts. I got some great pics and video.
